Tributes to Fair City star Aaron Harris following actor's death at 71

TRIBUTES have been paid to a star of long-running RTÉ soap Fair City following his death in Spain.

Aaron Harris, who played Detective garda Myles Byrne on the show, died on September 4, his family has confirmed.

The actor, who was 71 and lived between Co Clare, Limerick and London, made his debut on the Dublin-set soap in the late 1990s.

He also starred in ITV detective drama Wycliffe and BBC's Ballykissangel, which was filmed in Co Wicklow.

His Fair City co-star Aisling O’Neill described Mr Harris as a "kind and generous gentleman", while Tommy O'Neill, who plays his colleague Detective John Deegan, wrote in a tribute post on social media: "I was very very fond of Aaron and wish him a happy journey to the great show in the sky. R.I.P. Brother."

Funeral plans are due to be announced at a later date.
