FORMER defence secretary Michael Fallon has Irish rock 'n' roll links.

The Conservative MP, who resigned from the Cabinet after admitting that his behaviour towards women in the past had “fallen short”, is a cousin of BP Fallon, the Irish DJ, author, photographer and musician, who over a career stretching across decades worked with bands including Led Zeppelin and The Beatles.

Mr Fallon - full name Michael Cathel Fallon (65) - was born in Perth in Scotland but has family links to Co Sligo.

BP Fallon (71), who last year collaborated with Belfast DJ and producer David Holmes on a tribute to the late Henry McCullough, currently lives in New York.

The link was first revealed by The Irish News in 2014.
