Police are appealing for information following last Saturday's crash involving a car and tractor outside the village of Ballynure.

A 61-year-old man has died as a result of injuries sustained in a crash involving a tractor in Co Antrim last weekend.

The crash happened on the A8 dual carriageway outside the village of Ballynure at around 3pm last Saturday.

The victim has been named locally as farmer John Wilson, from Ballynure.

He was the driver of a red Case tractor that was involved in a collision with a blue Ford Fiesta Zetec.

Mr Wilson was one of three people taken to hospital following the crash, and he remained in a critical condition, but died on Wednesday.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "Police would like to hear from witnesses and anyone who may have captured footage on the A8 between Ballynure and Ballyboley junctions around the time of the collision.

"Officers can be contacted at the Collision Investigation Unit by calling 101, quoting reference 926 21/10/23."

A death notice described Mr Wilson as the "dearly loved husband of Shirley, loving dad of Laura and Linzi and brother of Claire".

Ballyclare Alliance councilor, Alderman Lewis Boyle, told the Irish News: "This death has come as an absolute shock to the community. It's going to be a very trying time for the victim's family, and our thoughts will be with them in the days, weeks and months ahead.

"I would also urge anyone who can provide information on the collision to contact police and assist them in their investigation."
