POPULAR policing drama Hope Street is returning to TV screens for its third series next week.

Filmed in Co Down earlier this year, the new season will begin on BBC One Northern Ireland on October 30 at 7pm.

Set in the fictional seaside town of Port Devine, the show - created by Paul Marquess and Donna Wiffen - follows the lives and loves of PSNI officers, and the new season will also be screened on the BBC Daytime schedule early next year.

The third series of the drama was given the green light in April, with filming getting underway later that month in Donaghadee.

Commissioned by BBC NI, BBC Daytime and Britbox International, the upcoming series has an extended run of 15 episodes.

The returning cast includes Ciarán McMenamin as Inspector Finn O’Hare, Bríd Brennan as Concepta O’Hare, and Kerri Quinn as Marlene Pettigrew, while among new faces for the third series are former north Belfast actress and ex-Hollyoaks star Karen Hassan, and Bangor-born Finnian Garbutt.

The show is supported by NI Screen, and describing the new season, a spokesperson said: "From explosions to a dead body washing up on the beach and the theft of £10,000 in used bank notes, there are plenty of crimes for our Hope Street cops to tackle.

"Viewers can also look forward to a marriage proposal and a new relationship developing at the police station – love is definitely in the air in Port Devine!"

Meanwhile, filming for season two of Blue Lights - another BBC policing drama set in the north - is continuing in locations including Belfast, and is expected to hit screens next year.
