A cyclist has been hospitalised following a crash in the Stewartstown Road area of west Belfast.

The alarm was raised just before noon and the Air Ambulance was tasked to the scene, with police blocking the road in both directions between the Michael Ferguson Roundabout and the Blacks Road.

A PSNI spokesperson said the crash involved a grey BMW car and a bicycle.

“The male cyclist, aged in his twenties, has been taken to hospital for treatment following the collision and the Stewartstown Road which was closed for a short time, has since re-opened.

"Officers would ask anyone who witnessed the collision or who captured dash-cam footage which could be of assistance to contact them at Woodbourne on 101, quoting reference number 640 for September 29."
