An Irish Goodbye stars James Martin and Seamus O'Hara are to appear on a celebrity special of Gogglebox Ireland.

The Oscar and BAFTA-winning actors are among a host of Irish celebrities to take their places on the sofa for a one-off special of the show to mark 25 years of Virgin Media TV.

Tonight's show will see celebrities from across the island of Ireland take to the couch and react to a range of television programmes.

Sharing a photograph of the Belfast and Ballymena-born stars on the sofa, Shelley Lowry Talent Management said the stars had "had great fun filming Gogglebox Ireland’s Celebrity special".

Other well-known Irish celebrities set to take part are presenter Brian Dowling and his husband, Dancing with the Stars judge Arthur Gourounlian, as well as Derry Girls actor Tommy Tiernan, TV presenter Hector O hEochagain and radio broadcaster Laurita Blewitt.

Former Atomic Kitten singer Kerry Katona and Irish comedian Alison Spittle will also be on the couch together as well as actors Rachel Pilkington and Norma Sheehan.

Journalists Gavan Reilly, Zara King and Richard Chambers are also among the cast.

Mr Reilly, Virgin Media's political correspondent, said: "I've been a Gogglebox fan since the early days of the British series - so much so that the older series are one of the most-watched things on our Netflix.

"It was great to see an Irish edition get off the ground and it's really exciting to get to be part of a landmark special episode like this one."

Other household names who will be taking part in the one-off special include internet famous family The Flemings and presenters Tommy Bowe, Karen Koster and Martin King.

Young Offenders stars Shane Casey, Demi Isaac Oviawe and Hilary Rose, Cork singer Lyra and RTÉ radio host Roz Purcell are also set to appear.

Celebrity Gogglebox Ireland will air on September 20 at 9pm on Virgin Media One and Virgin Media Player. V

However, viewers in Northern Ireland are unable to watch the show due to Virgin Media One and Virgin Media Player not currently being available in the north.
