TWO men are due in court after being charged with a serious assault in south Belfast that left a man critically ill in hospital.

The incident on Thursday saw a man in his 20s receive serious head injuries after an assault with a weapon at a property in the Bradbury Place area.

Two men aged 26 and 35 are to appear in Belfast Magistrates’ Court on Saturday morning facing charges of grievous bodily harm with intent, possession of an offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence, criminal damage and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

The 35-year-old man was also charged with theft, while a 19-year-old man arrested on suspicion of a number of offences related to the investigation remains in police custody assisting with enquiries.
