Fire crews deal with blaze at north Belfast industrial estate

Fire crews dealt with a blaze at a recycling facility in a north Belfast industrial estate on Sunday.

The fire in the Advantage Way area in the Ballygomartin Industrial Park was reported shortly after 4am.

Four appliances and around 30 firefighters attended the blaze.

It is understood the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service (NIFRS) are treating the fire as accidental.

The public were urged to keep their windows closed and avoid the area.

A NIFRS spokesperson appealed for "those impacted by smoke in the area to keep windows and doors closed and avoid the area, we will be in attendance for some time and will provide an update later today".

A PSNI spokesperson also said: "Police along with other emergency services are currently at the scene of a fire in an industrial estate in the Advantage Way area of Ballygomartin, north Belfast.

"Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service have advised residents to keep their window closed while they deal with the fire.

"The public are also advised to avoid the area at this time."
