A man was left lying injured on a street following an assault and attempted robbery in north Belfast, possibly for nearly eight hours.
Police received a report the man was found injured in the Canning Place area of the city around 9.50am on Thursday.
The PSNI believe the assault happened around 2am. He was taken to hospital and was still being treated on Friday evening.
Officers are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed an assault in the area to come forward, or if there may be CCTV, doorbell or dash-cam footage.
