A BELFAST barber has become a social media star after posting videos detailing his recovery from issues including drugs and abuse, and helping a homeless man who has been living on the streets for 10 years.

Jason Millar, who runs Jay's Barber Club in north Belfast, has got almost 500,000 views for a video posted to TikTok in which he offers a free haircut to a homeless man named Thomas.

In the video, which was posted to the social media app last week, Jay also offers to help the man train in barbering, with a future offer of a job at his shop.

Along with posting barber tips and videos from his online Jay's Pro Barber Academy, Jason discusses his own difficult background in videos discussing mental health, drug abuse, and overcoming adversary.

He has also published a book about his life, titled Jason To Jay, in which he writes about growing up in care with his brother, dealing with horrific personal loss, and falling into a life of drugs.

In a video discussing how he put drug abuse behind him and forced his life onto a new path, he said: "When I was addicted to drugs, there were some weeks I was spending up to £1500 on drugs, and it just shows the place that I was in mentally."

Jason, who also volunteers with a homeless charity in Belfast, added: "I know that some people out there, or people watching this, might feel like giving up, but there has to be a 'click', there has to be something in your mind where you want to change yourself.

"There's nobody going to wave a magic wand and go 'that's you fixed."
