Victim of alleged Sliabh Liag assault has not been reported as missing person

A victim of an alleged assault in the Sliabh Liag area of Co Donegal has not been officially reported as a missing person, it has been reported.

The tourist area remains closed off to the public this morning as an investigations into an incident last weekend continue.

RTÉ report that Gardaí are trying to find the victim, understood to be from Northern Ireland, but it is not being treated as a missing person investigation at this stage.

It follows a large-scale search operation in previous days involving the Irish Coast Guard.

A man and a woman in their twenties who were arrested in connection with the investigation were released without charge on Monday.

The Donegal Daily had previously reported that the arrests followed a tip-off to Gardaí that a man from Northern Ireland had been in a row with two people staying in the area.
