The Love Island star Molly-Mae Hague is among supporters donating to help a young Enniskillen man who suffered a heart attack while on holiday in Los Angeles.
Pauric Kettyles (24) was admitted to intensive care last week after a cardiac arrest while on holiday with his partner Chelsea Graham, but is now recovering and waiting for surgery.
A fundraiser started by his sister Zara Bullion has now raised more than £50,000, who thanked supporters on Wednesday and said her brother was now waiting for an operation to fit a defibrillator inside his body.
“Thankfully, they have said they predict there will be no long-lasting damage to his brain despite being without oxygen at the time of his cardiac arrest,” she said.
“This will be something that Pauric will live with for the rest of his life but we are so thankful that he will have a life to live.
“We are hoping that once we have a surgery date, we will be able to work towards a date to get Pauric home safely.”
Thanking supporters for their “unbelievable” help, she said the money would allow for his partner and mother to remain at his side as well as for expenses when he is released from hospital.
“It is predicted he will need to stay in the US for a period of time before being able to fly whenever that might be,” she said.
“This will all be outside of his medical treatment which we plan to cover with the insurance he took before travelling.
Among those donating was the Love Island star Molly-Mae Hague, a friend of Mr Kettyles’ partner, who contributed £1,000.
“My beautiful friend’s partner unexpectedly fell seriously ill while on holiday,” she wrote.
“Anything that can be donated to help with the costs of his treatment whilst he is abroad is hugely by his girlfriend and family. Come on Pauric we are praying for you.”
Enniskillen Town FC also contributed £1,000 while his employer, Balcas, have organised a raffle to generate funds to support the family.
