TWO pedestrians have suffered serious injuries in separate road crashes in Co Antrim.

The first collision happened on the Moira Road at Nutts Corner shortly after 6.30am on Tuesday. The single-car crash involved a black XF Jaguar and led to the closure of the route in both directions.

A PSNI spokeswoman said that a pedestrian had been taken to hospital for treatment to serious injuries.

She added that the route had later reopened.

Meanwhile, police are also investigating a road crash near Mallusk on Tuesday.

A police spokeswoman said the single vehicle road traffic collision involving a Grey Volkswagen Tiguan happened in the Scullions Road area shortly after 7.40am.

"One man, a pedestrian, was taken to hospital for treatment to serious injuries," she said.

"The Mallusk Road and Scullions Road, which were closed for a period of time have both now re-opened."

Police have appealed for witnesses to both crashes to contact them.
