TWO Tyrone schools are vying for MacRory Cup success this year and will compete for football glory on home county turf on Sunday.

Healy Park in Omagh is the venue for the game, which will see Omagh CBS take on Holy Trinity Cookstown in the showpiece title-decider.

Preparations have been ongoing all week in both schools as pupils, teachers and parents gear up to show their support for the two teams.

At Omagh CBS, art classes have been utilized to prepare supporter flags for Sunday's final, while canteen staff have been serving up special breakfasts for the players ahead of the game.

The four-time winners have made it to final for the first time since losing to St Michael’s, Enniskillen in 2019.

Holy Trinity College show their support:

Fearghal Quinn from the school said everyone is behind the team as they hope to end Omagh CBS's 16-year wait for a MacRory cup title.

"There's been plenty of buzz in school the whole week in the lead-up to Sunday," he said.

"Flags and posters have been made by the art classes and the canteen staff provided a health breakfast on Tuesday.

"It's 16 years since the school won, so everyone is looking forward to it and getting behind the team.

"We have a talented bunch of boys and there are 13 different clubs represented on the squad.

"Among the coaching staff is Diarmuid McNulty, who was a player on the last winning team from Omagh CBS in 2007."

For Holy Trinity Cookstown, they hope that this year will be their turn to climb the steps at Healy Park and collect the coveted silverware for the first time in the school’s history.

The school lost out to St Mary’s, Magherafelt in last year’s decider in Armagh.

Omagh CBS shows support for the players:

Emma Hughes from the school said the lessons of last year’s defeat will hopefully make Holy Trinity stronger this year.

"We were beaten last year by St Mary's, but that hasn't stopped the boys and they are back in the final again," she said.

"It's been a great week so far in the school, there's a lot of excitement and lots of the school colours, green and black, are on show as well as banners and posters being prepared in art classes.

"Everyone have been stocking up the bobble hats and wristbands to wear to to the final.

"The team have also been out visiting local primary schools to talk about their football experience and preparations for the final."
