A BELFAST swap shop is appealing for donations to help support people experiencing hardship in the city.

Another World Belfast was opened in Winetavern Street, close to Smithfield market, earlier this year offering customers the opportunity to buy clothing if they brought their own quality items to swap.

As part of it's latest appeal, it has launched a new 'Free Store', which specialises in the support of women and the LGBT community. It provides "everything from toiletries and underwear to coats and includes handbags and ‘like new’ footwear".

The initiative is in partnership with Womens Aid, Flourish NI, and a range of charities that support refugees and asylum seekers and those experiencing homelessness.

The project also helps multiple organisations that support the needs of survivors of domestic abuse, human trafficking, the trans-community, as well as those who are struggling to make ends meet.

But they are now appealing for donations of "all toiletries and make-up as well as nightwear and slippers, and good quality clothing donations for all sizes".

Those running the store have also urged people to support its JustGiving page in a bid to help them "grow and pay our bills".

They said that they "are beyond grateful for the invaluable support of their incredible volunteers, but now need to be able to rely on the additional commitment and consistency of staff support".
