THERE was success for Ulster competitors at the All Ireland Scór finals in Co Mayo over the weekend.

The contest, which combines all the colour and rivalry of Gaelic games with the social/fun element of Ireland's traditional pastimes, was held in Castlebar on Saturday.

Glasdrumman GAC from Co Down were among the three All Ireland winners from Ulster after they took home the ballad group title.

There were major celebrations planned at the Glasdrumman club last night where a homecoming event was being held for the winners with those attending asked to wear their club colours to "show our support for this fantastic achievement".

Dónal Ó Muireagáin of Carrickcruppen GAA was also crowned All Ireland Scór champion after winning the best recitation prize.

The third All Ireland winner from Ulster was Mullaghbawn CLG, which secured the instrumental group title.

A big homecoming event was also been held at the Co Armagh club last night for the winners. The club said in a post on its Facebook page that it was "so proud of these young men" and that "they have done themselves, their families, club and county proud".

The competition was established by the GAA in 1969 with the aim of promoting Ireland's traditional pastimes and culture while offering club members the chance to meet up, have fun and represent their club during the winter months while camogie, football and hurling had ceased.

There are several events/disciplines in Scór that cover all aspects of Irish culture from figure/Céilí dancing, solo singing, ballad group, recitation, stage presentation, instrumental music, set dancing and table quiz.
