MOURNERS gathered in Co Derry for the funeral of a five-year-old boy who died after being struck by a van.

Family and friends of Ollie Simmons-Watt gathered at Christ Church in Limavady.

The funeral service took place almost a week after the incident in the Irwin Avenue area of the town on September 29.

The ambulance service and air ambulance attended and Ollie was taken to hospital, but he later died from his injuries.

Tributes described the little boy, who attended Roe Valley Integrated PS, as having an "infectious smile" and being "full of character".

A funeral notice said he was the "much loved son of Stacie and Gareth and adored brother of Freddie and Bella".

His family have asked for any donations, in lieu of flowers, to be made to the Air Ambulance NI.
