MOURNERS at the funeral of Co Tyrone woman Una Noone heard that "family meant everything" to her.

Funeral Mass for the 77-year-old was celebrated at Holy Trinity Church in Cookstown yesterday.

Mrs Noone was found dead in her home in Ratheen Avenue in Cookstown on Sunday.

Her son Barry Noone (45), who shares the address with his mother, was arrested at the scene. He has been charged with her murder.

She is survived by her son, daughter Tracey, and wider family circle.

Mourners at her funeral yesterday heard that Mrs Noone was someone who her family often went to for advice.

"She loved her wee trips over to London to see them," Fr Brian Slater said.

"When Tiarnan her grandson came along, she did what all grandparents do and that was to spoil him."

Fr Slater said when he made home visits to Mrs Noone, who had been ill for several months, she was grateful to receive Holy Communion, describing it as "the greatest gift she had received".

"None of us here are in a position to judge or cast the first stone but instead leave that to our Heavenly Father," he said.

Fr Slater urged the congregation to "pray for all those affected by this tragedy".

He extended his sympathies to the Noone family from all the priests in the parish.

Mrs Noone was buried in Forthill cemetery following the service.
