A CO ANTRIM man in his forties who was killed in a workplace accident in Carrickfergus will be laid to rest tomorrow.

Father-of-two John Traynor, from Ballycastle, died following an accident on Knockagh Road on Wednesday morning.

Mr Traynor, who worked for IJ Lynn & Sons, was due to get married in the summer.

Requiem Mass will be celebrated at St Patrick’s and St Brigid’s Church in Ballycastle at 10am tomorrow followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Mr Traynor is survived by his fiancée Ann, daughter Caitlin, son John and wider family circle.

He was the second man to die in a workplace accident in 48 hours.

Ian McCollum was fatally injured at McKinstry Biomass Ltd in the Carnbane Industrial Estate in Newry on Monday afternoon.

It is understood the father-of-one died after an accident involving heavy machinery.

Mr McCollum is survived by his wife Kathryn, son Aaron and wider family circle.

A service will take place at his home on Carmavy Road, Nutts Corner, Crumlin at noon today, followed by burial at Carmavy graveyard.

Police said neither death is being treated as suspicious.

The Health and Safety Executive said it is making enquiries into both fatalities.
