PLANS have been unveiled for 250 new homes in a £120 million project in Derry’s Waterside.

The mix of social and affordable homes are the result of a joint partnership between property developer, South Bank Square and housing provider Choice. The properties will be built on land adjacent to Clooney Road and Gransha Roundabout.

Including a mix of terraced, detached and semi-detached houses, the project will also feature bungalows and apartments specifically aimed at those aged 55 and over. South Bank Square managing director, Martin Mallon said the project would lead to the development of hundreds of new family homes.

“The comprehensive planned development of this site will be key to delivering some of the thousands of new family homes that we know are very much needed in the city now and over the forthcoming years,” Mr Mallon said.

Michael McDonnell of Choice said the development would help young families to get on the property ladder.

“We hope to be able to secure planning permission for these homes so that we can begin to deliver them as soon as possible,” Mr McDonnell said.
