A CARE worker has denied six counts of sexual activity with a woman with a mental disorder who was in his care.

Ian McKeegan (56) of Ivy Mead in Derry appeared at the city's Crown Court yesterday where he was arraigned on six charges.

He pleaded not guilty to two charges of sexual activity with the woman between April 30 2019 and June 12 2019.

He was also charged with four similar counts that were said to have occurred on June 12 2019. He pleaded not guilty to those four counts.

Defence counsel Sean Doherty said he was unsure why there were six separate charges and asked that the prosecution give particulars of each charge.

The case was adjourned until later this month for review.

Mr McKeegan was released on bail.
