A £200,000 refurbishment of the historic Forthill Park in Enniskillen is to begin.

Funded by the Landfill Communities Fund and Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, the scheme will include conservation work on the monument to British army general and politician Sir Galbraith Lowry Cole.

Known as Cole's Monument, it will have restoration repairs made to the stonework, while the viewing platform atop the 30-metre column will be cleaned.

Pathways and park furniture will also be upgraded, while a 'tree trail' for visitors will be installed. Beginning on April 12, the work is set to be completed by September.
