PSNI's most senior female officer ACC Barbara Gray to join Metropolitan Police

SENIOR PSNI officer Barbara Gray has been to appointed to the role of Deputy Assistant Commissioner with the Metropolitan Police.

Chief Constable Simon Bryne last night paid tribute to the outgoing Assistant Chief Constable (ACC), who was in charge of crime operations, saying it was a "fantastic personal achievement for Barbara and good news for policing too".

Policing Board Chair Doug Garrett said the ACC, the most senior female officer in the PSNI, had made a "significant contribution to policing in Northern Ireland throughout her career" and offered congratulations on behalf of the board.

Justice Minister Naomi Long also tweeted congratulations saying: "Well deserved and every best wish for the future."
