A 31-year-old man has been charged with a string of offences after a dog bit two police officers in south Belfast.

The officers were attacked after they stopped a man with a dog on Botanic Avenue at about 9.50pm on Tuesday.

One officer suffered serious facial injuries and the other was bitten on the arm.

Both needed hospital treatment.

The 31-year-old was charged with wounding, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, two counts of assault on police, possession of a Class B drug and resisting police

He is due to appear before Belfast Magistrates Court on Monday January 25.
