A FATHER has made an emotional appeal for information ahead of the fifteenth anniversary of his son's disappearance.

Martin Kelly (21), from Kinnegar Drive in Holywood, Co Down, was last seen outside Pat's Bar in the docks area of Belfast on New Year's Day 2006.

Despite several land and sea searches, he has never been found.

Martin's father Raymond Kelly said he still hopes to get answers about his son's disappearance.

In June, an anonymous person made a call to the Missing People national helpline with fresh information.

Raymond Kelly appealed to whoever rang the helpline "to please ring again and give more detail".

"I want to finally find out the truth," he said. "I just want to keep this going."

Mr Kelly will visit the docks, where Martin was last seen, on the anniversary of his son's disappearance.

On New Year's Eve 15 years ago, Martin had drinks with friends in the Priory Bar in Holywood, where he worked part-time, before going to two house parties.

He went to Pat's Bar with friends at about 2pm on New Year's Day.

His father said Martin left the bar briefly with friends at 5.30pm.

His friends went back to Holywood but Martin returned to the bar and spoke to some people over a drink before leaving for the final time through the back door shortly after 7pm.

When last seen, Martin was wearing a black Guinness T-shirt and blue jeans.

In 2011, a "reminder" bench was placed at the harbour in the hope that it may jog people's memories.

Detective Inspector Keith Wilson said officers want to speak to some people who came into contact with Martin in the days before he disappeared.

"This includes a middle aged couple who were in the company of an elderly female in Pat's Bar for a short time on the evening of Sunday, January 1 2006," he said.

"They would also like to speak to a female who may have spoken to and exchanged phone numbers with Martin Kelly in the Priory Inn, Holywood, on the evening of Saturday, December 31 2005."

He urged anyone with information to contact police on 101 or Missing People on 116 000.
