POLICE say enquiries are continuing in a murder investigation into the death of a woman almost three months ago at her home in south Belfast.

Susan Baird (60) died in mid-August at her home in a cul-de-sac at Windermere Road in the Four Winds area.

Detectives at the time arrested a 61-year-old man on suspicion of murder and he was taken into custody.

It is understood he remains under medical supervision.

Detectives had appealed for information at the time of Mrs Baird's death.

Asked for an update on the case, the PSNI said in a statement: "Detectives from the Police Service of Northern Ireland's Major Investigation Team continue to investigate the murder of a 60-year-old woman at her home on Windermere Road in Belfast on Sunday August 16.

"A 61-year-old man remains under investigation on suspicion of murder. Enquiries are ongoing."

Mrs Baird was an office administrator for Orangefield Presbyterian Church on Castlereagh Road in the east of the city.

She was married and had four grown-up children.

A death notice from the family said she would be "loved and remembered always".

Tributes left at the scene at the time of Mrs Baird's death fondly described her as a "loving, caring and truly wonderful person".

One message attached to a bouquet paid tribute to her Christian faith.

It read: "Your devotion, joy, love and faithfulness to your family came only a close second to your absolute devotion and honour to our loving Lord Jesus.. Until we meet again."
