Police close Co Down road to further investigate fatal road collision in August

THE PSNI yesterday undertook further investigations into a fatal road traffic collision in Co Down which claimed the life of a pensioner during the summer.

Beryl Carson, who was 87 and from Belfast, died following a crash on the Portaferry Road at around 2pm on Thursday, August 27.

She was a front seat passenger in a black Citroen C3 which was involved in a collision with a silver Lexus.

The driver of the Citroen and three children inside were taken to hospital for treatment to their injuries.

The Portaferry Road was yesterday closed between Greyabbey village and Inishargy Road in Kircubbin while police continued investigations.

The PSNI want to "hear from anyone who may have been on the road at the time of the collision or captured dash-cam footage".
