Shots have been fired at a house in Ardoyne, north Belfast, in a "particularly reckless attack".

It happened shortly after 10pm last night in Cranbrook Court and shots were fired through the living room window, police said.

Sinn Féin said it was the home of "a local woman and a young child".

Police said no-one was injured in the gun attack.

Sinn Féin councillor Ryan Murphy condemned the "cowardly attack".

“This was a particularly reckless attack on a home in Ardoyne tonight. A number of shots were fired into the home of a local woman and a young child.

“Thankfully no one has been injured in this cowardly attack but we could have been looking at a real tragedy here."

Mr Murphy appealed for anyone with information to contact police and said local people had been "shocked and disgusted" by the gun attack.
