A MIDWIFE from Co Tyrone has been featured on the front cover of world-renowned fashion magazine Vogue as part of a special issue focusing on key workers.

Rachel Millar (24), from Coagh, has worked at Homerton Hospital in east London for the last few years and said her interest in the career was sparked by watching lambing season at her grandparents' farm.

Along with a supermarket worker and a London Overground train driver, Ms Millar is one of three people who feature on the front of the July edition of British Vogue.

Ms Millar said she was on shift and going to "get an epidural top up" when she was taken with other staff to get her photo taken without any time for professional make-up.

"It's so bizarre. No-one imagines that would ever happen to them because I'm just an ordinary person, so it's just mad," she told the BBC.

"In something like this, during a pandemic, it goes to show every single job people do, no matter how big or small, it makes a difference to people's lives."

The editor-in-chief of UK Vogue, Edward Enninful, said the 20-page portfolio of key workers represented a "moment in history (which) required something extra special, a moment of thanks to the new front line."
