POLICE have appealed for information after a man armed with a broken bottle tried to rob a fast food outlet in east Belfast.

The man entered the premises on Granton Park in the Tullycarnet area at around 6.25pm on Wednesday and demanded money from a member of staff before attempting to climb over the counter.

The man was unsuccessful and escaped empty handed.

He is described as being aged in his late teens with dark hair. He was wearing black and grey clothing and black woven Nike gloves.

He had his hood up and face covered throughout the incident.
