FOOTAGE of the Bangor pier attack was viewed millions of times online and caused widespread shock.

The video, during which the teenage victim could be heard shouting that she was struggling and "couldn't breathe" was sent to the victim's mother.

Police believe that the girl was deliberately lured to the scene. Once there she was apparently attacked in a dispute over a boy.

The court was told that Cora Campbell, who police suspected to be the main instigator, was shouting "Do you still want my boyfriend now" and "Why did you kiss him".

During police interviews Campbell said there were "issues" between her and the victim.

Campbell's (19) address was given in court as English Street in Downpatrick although she is understood to be originally from the Twinbrook area of west Belfast.

She is understood to have spent some time in care.

In December last year, Campbell was remanded into custody after a judge said the “only way to protect her” from killing herself with drugs was to refuse her bail as she waited to face charges for the pier attack.

District Judge Mark Hamill refused to release the 18-year-old when she appeared at Newtownards Magistrates Court after hearing how she was found unconscious under the M3 bridge saying he had to “act in her interests".

A police officer recounted how paramedics were called to an unconscious female under the bridge on December 22. After paramedics revived her, Campbell admitted she had taken drugs.
