Sinn Féin has urged residents in the area close to a proposed waste incinerator to make their feelings known about a revised planning application.

ARC21, a waste management group representing six councils, has resubmitted an application to build the controversial incinerator at Hightown Quarry near Mallusk in Co Antrim.

Approval for the £300m development was overturned in the courts in July 2018 because planning permission for the major scheme needed the approval of an executive minister.

Sinn Féin councillor Michael Goodman said he was disappointed by the fresh application.

“I’m shocked that ARC21 are renewing their efforts to develop this despite the court ruling in 2018," he said.

Residents have been encourage to have their say on the scheme and a copy of the application is available at Glengormley Library.

It can also be viewed online at the Plannning NI portal.
