A 23-year-old farmer from Co Donegal has scooped €1m on the Irish lottery.

Letterkenny man Odhrán Doherty arrived at lottery HQ in Dublin in a white stretch hummer with friends and family.

He struck it lucky after his father bought him a Lotto Plus 1 ticket for Saturday night’s draw.

The pair work together on the family farm.

The sheep farmer said he intends to take a holiday with his new found wealth.

Mr Doherty’s winning lottery ticket is one of three sold in the Co Donegal town of Raphoe in the last two months.

The newsagents where he bought his lucky ticket, owned by businessman James Barclay, also recently sold a Euromillions Plus ticket worth €500,000, to retired farmer Charlie Meehan (84), who has survived a battle with cancer.

Another shop in the town also recently sold a €98,000 winning ticket.
