A COOKSTOWN man has been placed on the Sex Offender Register after pleading guilty to charges involving a female child.

Dylan James Colvin (23) from Castle Court accepted two of four offences, with the remainder no longer proceeding.

Appearing in the dock of Dungannon Crown Court, he admitted intentionally communicating with the girl for the purpose of sexual gratification on December 24 2017.

He further accepted abducting her and detaining her without lawful authority or reasonable excuse on dates between February 10 and 13 this year.

Charges of meeting the child following sexual grooming and making an indecent image were denied.

A lawyer appearing for the Public Prosecution Service said in light of the guilty pleas, the denied charges would no longer proceed and will be left on the court books.

Judge Stephen Fowler remanded Colvin on continuing bail whilst pre-sentence reports are prepared.

He added that the duration of Sex Offender Registration will be determined at sentencing, which will take place in January.

Colvin's bail terms includes no contact by any means with the victim, a curfew from 9pm to 7am and a ban on using, obtaining or possessing a mobile phone or sim card.
