Clenaghans Restaurant in Co Antrim awarded Michelin Bid Gourmand status
A CO Antrim restaurant spearheaded by a Michelin star-winning chef is a new entry amongst seven Northern Ireland establishments awarded Bib Gourmand status.
As part of the Michelin Guide Great Britain & Ireland 2019, the Bid Gourmand awards recognise establishments offering good food at affordable prices of £28 or less for a three-course meal.
Clenaghans Restaurant, near Aghalee in Co Antrim has joined Belfast eateries; Deanes at Queen’s, Bar+Grill at James’ Street South and Home, who all retained their status from last year. Wine & Brine in Moira and Hollywood eateries; Fontana and Noble complete the 2019 line-up of Bib Gourmand status restaurants in the north.
The award-winning Danni Barry, formerly of Deane's Eipic, is head chef at Clenaghans, which reopened last year after a major refurbishment.
The restaurant is now under new ownership, with the partnership of Stevie and Cristina Higginson, proprietors at Square Bistro, Lisburn and Barry at the helm.
The joint investment included refurbishments to establish a more modern, fresh appeal and the creation of 20 full and part-time jobs.
In the Republic, four restaurants joined the list of 24 Bib Gourmand recipients, whose names feature in the 2019 Michelin Guide Great Britain & Ireland. The 2019 guide is published today by tyre manufacturer Michelin and will be available online at http://travel.michelin.co.uk/ and in bookshops from Thursday, October 4.
