THE IRSP has complained after several Facebook pages were shut down by the social media giant.

The party claims national and some local pages were ‘unpublished’ in recent weeks.

Spokesman Tarlach Mac Dhónaill said that page administrators “have faced repeated restrictions and bans”.

Mr Mac Dhónaill said some of the material removed related to the INLA but questioned why the party had been singled out.

“It is more credible to believe that Irish political rivalries are manifesting themselves in this issue, than it is to fathom Mark Zuckerberg embarking on a personal crusade against the ‘Irps’.

“The content on our pages shouldn’t offend anyone, but it most definitely would not offend the same group of people multiple times per day, multiple times per week.”

Facebook did not respond to requests for a comment.
