A 20-year-old woman arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving following a fatal road traffic collision in Co Down has been released on bail pending further police enquiries.

The woman, who was the driver of a Golf car, was arrested on Wednesday following a road crash on the outskirts of Ballygowan.

A man aged in his sixties was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision.

The victim was driving a silver Proton Persona car, which was in collision with a black BMW on the Comber Road just before 9pm.

The 22-year-old driver of the BMW suffered minor injuries and was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

He was later released on bail, pending further police inquiries.

The female driver of a third vehicle, found close to the scene, was also arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

The 20-year-old, who was driving a black Volkswagon Golf, was also later released on bail pending further police enquiries.

Police have appealed for information about the crash.
