A CAR has suffered significant damage in a suspected arson attack in north Belfast.

The fire happened shortly before 1am on Saturday in the Ballysillan Avenue area.

Police said two people were seen fleeing the scene on foot.

Crews from the Fire and Rescue Service extinguished the blaze. No-one was injured.

Police have appealed for anyone who witnessed the fire or saw any suspicious activity in the area at the time to contact them on 101.
