WORK on a £350,000 scheme to widen the Comber Greenway in east Belfast is due to begin today.

The project will involve widening the existing route between Holywood Arches and East Link Road.

The first phase, between Hollywood Arches and Sandown Road, should be completed by mid-February and all work finished by the end of March.

Each section will be closed to the public during work.

The Comber Greenway is a seven mile track that runs along the now disused Belfast-Comber railway line.
