TWIN brothers from Belfast have been warned they face being sent to jail after they admitted carrying out a burglary.

Jayden and Dylan Vandermerwe, who are both aged 20 and from Campbell Park Avenue, appeared together at Belfast Crown Court.

They were jointly charged with breaking into a house at Knocklofty Park in the east of the city on September 16 last year, and of stealing tools and equipment.

After the charge was put to both brothers, they each replied "guilty".

Although few details about the offence were revealed during yesterday's brief hearing, it emerged that "coarse language" was used to the victim, who was told to "back off" during the burglary.

Judge Geoffrey Miller told the twins they will be given "considerable credit" for their guilty plea. He did, however, warn the pair that "immediate custody is likely".

Both men were advised to co-operate with the Probation Board for the compilation of pre-sentence reports, and were told to return to the same court for sentencing on February 8.
