A WOMAN was arrested yesterday after a man sustained "puncture wounds" in an attack at an east Belfast apartment.

Officers were called to the scene at about 1.50am on Newtownards Road near the Skainos Centre.

A man aged in his thirties was taken to hospital with injuries that are not thought to be life-threatening.

PSNI sergeant Scott Williamson said: "When officers arrived at the address, they found a man in his thirties who had sustained a number of puncture wounds to his shoulder."

Mr Williamson said a 35-year-old woman was later arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent.

She yesterday remained in custody helping officers with their enquiries.

Police urged anyone with information about the incident to contact officers at Strandtown on the non-emergency number 101 or through Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
