POLICE in Derry have released images of two men they want to speak to in relation to a burglary and vandalism attack at a church last month.

There was widespread condemnation of the attack on Christ Church on Infirmary Road, in which vandals defecated and urinated in the place of worship.

They also wrecked an organ in the Church of Ireland building, which is close to St Eugene’s Catholic Cathedral.

A crystal decanter used for Holy Communion was also stolen and a stained glass window smashed.

Police yesterday issued images of two men they want to speak to on their Foyle Facebook page.

The post said: “In OP Exposure there will always been a presumption of innocence of all the images we release but we need your help to identify this person to prove or disprove their involvement. If you are in this image then we would also encourage you to contact us."

Police urged social media users not to post their names online and said the images would be removed once the men were identified.
