West Belfast burglaries and attempted thefts believed to be linked

Police are appealing for information following a series of incidents on Tuesday morning

Police are investigating a series of break-ins and attempted thefts in west Belfast on Tuesday that are believed to be linked.

A man wearing a black hoody was seen leaving a property in the Slemish Way area where access had been gained to a shed at around 5.30am.

A man was also seen leaving another property in Slemish Way at 6am, and a motorcycle was taken during the incident before being abandoned a short distance away, while significant damage was caused to the vehicle.

A male in a black hoody was spotted trying to break into a car in the Berneagh Drive area at 6.45am before making off.

At 9.10am it was reported that a man in a black hoody was seen trying to break into a Range Rover in the Bingnian Drive area before leaving the scene after failing to gain access.



A report was then made at 11am that a house in the Benraw Green area was broken into and a handbag and gaming equipment stolen. The handbag was later recovered close to the property.

A PSNI spokesperson said: ”We are treating all of these incidents as linked and I am appealing to anyone who saw anyone suspicious in any of these areas or to anyone with CCTV, doorbell or other footage that could assist with enquiries to contact detectives on 101 quoting reference 472 of 09/01/24.”
