Searches have been carried out in Co Derry by police investigating dissident republican activity.

Detectives from the PSNI’s Serious Crime Branch carried out the searches during the weekend in the Currynierin area of Derry city and the Learmount Road area of Claudy.

A number of items were removed for further forensic examination.

A PSNI spokesperson said the searches were aimed to “disrupt the activities of a small group of people who are intent on using violence”.
