The death of a Co Down man while on holiday in Gran Canaria is being treated as accidental, according to a local news report.

According to local news outlet La Provincia, local police believe the death was caused by an accidental fall and no other person was involved in his death.

Mr Dobbin’s body was found by a cleaner in the apartment at the Colina Mar apart-hotel complex on Monday at 12.15pm.

It is reported that a friend, who was with him on holiday, was also in the apartment “semi-conscious and completely disoriented”.

The newspaper also reported that the friend told the Civil Guard that they had been celebrating St Patrick’s Day.

The Department of Foreign Affairs is providing assistance with the case, while the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust are assisting with the return of his body.

A death notice said Mr Dobbin was a loving father, beloved son and much loved brother.

In a Facebook tribute post, his brother David wrote: “My bro, my everything...most beautiful heart you will ever have met...I love you brother.”

Funeral details have yet to be announced.
