GAA members are to hold a march in Belfast in support of people impacted by Israel’s ongoing campaign in Gaza.

Representatives from around 13 GAA clubs, along with Irish language and cultural groups, have come together in Belfast to organise the protest under the banner, Antrim Gaels against Genocide in Gaza.

Fresh concerns have been raised as the Palestinian death toll continues in the wake of Israel’s ongoing operation in Gaza.

It was launched after around 1,400 people were killed during a Hamas-led attack inside Israeli territory last October during which around 200 hostages were taken.

A series of protests have been held across the north in recent months as the number of Palestinians killed, including thousands of children, continues to rise.

A spokesman for the march organisers said: “With over 25,000 civilians including 10,000 babies/children, over 5,000 women and 350 healthcare workers among those killed in Israeli airstrikes and armed actions, we can no longer remain silent.

“We need to show the Palestinian People in Gaza that we care and we need to demonstrate to the Zionist government in Israeli and their western government allies that this savagery cannot continue unchallenged.”

GAA clubs and cultural groups from across Ireland are being asked to take part and wear their club colours.

The march will take place on Saturday, February 10, and make its way from Writers Square to city hall at 1pm.
