An Irish band celebrating St Patrick’s Day in Switzerland were joined on stage by Sophie Ellis-Bextor for a rendition of her hit Murder on the Dancefloor.

Sligo combo Bluemoose were playing a cover of the English songstress’s early noughties’ top-ten single at Paddy Reilly’s pub in Zurich when the 44-year-old took the mic to sing her own song.

The Brit-award winner, who was in Zurich to perform on Monday, was reportedly celebrating Ireland’s patron saint with a pint of Guinness when the opportunity arose to join the all male five-piece on stage.

One band member said they thought they were “hallucinating” when she stepped onto the stage.

The singer, dressed in a pink cardigan, took her handbag on stage for the impromptu performance.
