Man arrested on suspicion of murder after body found in Co Kerry

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder over the death of another man in Co Kerry.

The deceased man has been named locally as Paddy O’Mahony Snr, aged in his 80s.

Gardai were called to a property in the Castlemaine area on Sunday, where the man’s body was found.

It is understood he suffered a gunshot injury.

The arrested man, in his 60s, is being held at a Garda station in Kerry under section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007.

A post-mortem examination will be carried out today.

An incident room has been established at Tralee Garda Station.
