A summer charter service linking Belfast to Royal Caribbean cruises in Barcelona and Bologna has launched at the City Airport.

The expanded offering from the Miami-based cruise operator will see passengers fly direct to Catalonia and northern Italy to board Royal Caribbean’s Oasis and Explorer of the Seas cruise liners.

Belfast City Airport said the decision to introduce the new Barcelona connection was taken due to the demand for the Bologna cruises in 2023.

“As part of our commitment to making Royal Caribbean holidays as accessible as possible, chartering services with trusted airport partners is one of the most effective ways to ensure passengers enjoy a straightforward journey,” said Jennifer Callister, head of Ireland sales at Royal Caribbean.

“Our excellent partnership with the Belfast City Airport team, coupled with our shared commitment to delivering the best possible passenger experience, has made this latest launch especially exciting for all involved, including our inaugural passengers.”
