THE Féile an Phobail Spring Festival will see over 250 events taking place across west Belfast and beyond in March.

Féile an Earraigh, which is hosted by the organisers of the annual Féile festival held in August, is taking place next month and will see a range of arts events alongside St Patrick's Day festivities.

A launch for the spring festival was held in west Belfast on Tuesday at the Falls Road James Connolly Visitor Centre.

Féile an Phobail Director Kevin Gamble said the festival will feature a "wonderful mix of traditional music, concerts, talks, tours, exhibitions, family events, International Women’s Day events, and St Patrick’s Day related arts and cultural events".

The festival will be run in partnership with Irish language and cultural organisation Conradh na Gaeilge.

"Some of the highlights of this March’s spring festival include the Féile Trad Trail with over 100 free live Irish traditional music sessions at venues across west Belfast, in Belfast city centre and in venues in east and north Belfast," Mr Gamble said.

Speaking of the music line-up, Ms Black said: "As a UNESCO city of music, we are of such a vast array of music genres. Our Irish traditional offering is a key part of the city’s musical heritage and this festival, which has grown from a grassroots and community level, embraces that heritage."
